Today’s foldable phones are certainly well-made, but the materials used to make folding screens are undoubtedly more delicate than standard slab-style phones. A cracked or otherwise damaged screen is not inevitable, but you should be prepared for it. This includes knowing where to go for repairs and how much they will cost.
Owners of Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Flip models might be curious about how much it costs to repair their folding displays. Samsung offers a repair subscription service called Samsung Care Plus. The service can reduce the cost of repairing your Galaxy Z phone, but you must consider the plan’s cost. Let’s go over the basics of repairing or replacing your Samsung foldable screen, with and without the protection of Care Plus.
QUICK ANSWER
The cost to repair or replace your Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Z Flip screen differs from model to model. For the 2023 models, you could pay up to $129 to replace the Galaxy Z Fold 5's outer screen and $499 to replace the inner display. You'll need to budget $319 to replace the Galaxy Z Flip 5's inner display and $109 for its outer screen. Owners can also consider enrolling in the Samsung Care Plus subscription service for better repair coverage.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 introduced several improvements to the inner screen, including a new hinge that aims to iron out the central crease. Notably, the cost to repair it and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 are slightly cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.
Paying out of pocket is the pricier way to repair your damaged Samsung foldable screen. As detailed by Samsung, here’s a look at how much a screen replacement for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will cost.

Samsung is currently running a promotion for select customers, dropping inner screen replacement costs for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 to $250 and $200, respectively.
Notably, two types of service are available to consumers: screen module replacement and screen repair. With Samsung’s 2023 model, only the former is available. Unlike a screen repair, which only swaps out the display, a screen module replacement includes a screen, metal bezel, and battery replacements. This process aims to undo the screen’s visible damage and any form of ancillary damage. Since it’s a swap-out of parts, it can also be dropped off in person and often be ready the same day. Samsung does not offer a screen repair service for its new foldable models.
Samsung doesn’t just offer repairs for its 2023 models. The company can look at and fix the original Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. If you own one of these models and need them repaired, consult the screen repair and replacement pricing table below.
Note that Samsung’s screen repair service only applies to the inner display of some phones.
Samsung’s foldable phones are markedly more expensive to repair than the company’s traditional handsets. For instance, a screen module replacement will cost $319 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra and $249 for the Galaxy S23 Plus. A screen repair for the two phones will cost $259 and $194, respectively.
Samsung Care Plus is a monthly subscription service that theoretically decreases the cost of screen repairs, especially if you’re a particularly clumsy user or someone looking for peace of mind. The service demands a $11/month fee for 36 months, totaling $396 across three years, or a $349 once-off payment for two years of coverage.
Even if Samsung offered no-fee repairs with Care Plus, you would still pay a subscription fee. So, you cannot replace your screen for free with Care Plus. A complete replacement due to accidental handling damage will cost $99 on top of the plan’s cost, and a repair job will cost $29. Non-screen-related repairs, which Samsung calls “mechanical breakdown,” carry no extra fee.
The value of Samsung Care Plus depends on what model you buy — the pricier the out-of-pocket replacement fee is, the more sensible the subscription service seems. Notably, the service becomes more of a bargain if you repair your device more than once. Samsung Care Plus allows for up to three screen claims per 12-month period. It also imposes a $2,500 maximum value on each claim.
Here’s the pricing structure for Samsung Care Plus. Remember that Samsung’s foldables are Tier 4 phones.
As you can see, with Care Plus, the screen repair and replacement cost for your Samsung foldable plummets. The fact that you could have your Fold 5’s inner screen replaced several times under this plan for the price of a single replacement without it makes Samsung Care Plus worth considering. This is especially true when you factor in the delicate nature of the new technology that folding screens represent and whether or not you’re a particularly clumsy user.
There is also a higher tier of Care Plus called Care Plus with Theft & Loss, which adds replacement for phones that go missing. The monthly fee is larger — $18/month instead of $11. A look at the fee schedule tells us that this higher tier does not seem to be as good a value as the standard plan.
Importantly, before you consider enrolling in Samsung Care Plus, be sure to read the terms and conditions. If you aren’t convinced by Samsung’s promises, there are other great phone insurance options available.
